1970 Datsun 240Z — maintenance mistake that cost you the most

OldSchoolNomad343Community StarterFeb 2, 20261970 Datsun 240ZSalt Lake City
1970 Datsun 240Z, about 252,500 miles. Most owners have one warning sign they ignored because the car still drove fine.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 1970 Datsun 240Z owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 1970 Datsun 240Z, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. When does it actually happen? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 1970 Datsun 240Z in Salt Lake City, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “maintenance mistake that cost you the most,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 1970 Datsun 240Z in Salt Lake City with 252,500 miles. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1970 Datsun 240Z before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
