What is a lease transfer?
A lease transfer (or lease takeover) is when the current lessee hands their remaining lease to a new person, who takes over the monthly payments and terms for the rest of the lease — subject to the leasing company's approval.
Is listing free?
Yes. Creating a normal vehicle listing is always free. Optional upgrades like featuring your listing are the only paid features.
How many photos can I upload?
Up to 5 photos per listing (JPG, PNG, or WebP, max 5MB each).
Does the site transfer the lease for me?
No. LookyLeasy connects buyers and sellers. The official transfer happens through the leasing company, which must approve the new lessee.
Can the leasing company reject the buyer?
Yes. The leasing company runs its own credit and approval process and can decline a buyer. Always confirm eligibility before finalizing anything.
Does the original lessee stay liable?
It depends on the leasing company. Some release the original lessee fully; others keep them partially liable. Confirm this in writing before transferring.
What fees should I ask about?
Transfer fee, disposition fee, excess-mileage fees, excess wear-and-tear charges, and the lease-end buyout price.
Should I inspect the vehicle?
Yes. Inspect the car (or get a professional inspection) and verify mileage and condition before taking over a lease.
Can I contact the seller by phone?
Only if the seller chooses to allow phone contact and adds a phone number. By default, contact is in-app to protect privacy.
What does 'lease verified' mean?
It means the seller submitted lease documents that our team reviewed manually. It helps confirm listing details but you must still confirm the final transfer with the leasing company.
Is phone verification required?
No. Phone numbers and phone verification are always optional.
How does featuring a listing work?
Featuring is an optional paid upgrade that places your listing higher in search with a Featured badge for 7, 14, or 30 days. Basic listings remain free.
