1988 Toyota Land Cruiser — driver seat clicks during left-right transitions

I can feel a small click through the seat base in corners. Mounting bolts appear tight and power functions work. How do you isolate rail play versus the frame or motor mechanism?

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. No need to make it theatrical. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser in Northern Virginia. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Yes, with one caveat: Capture voltage while the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “driver seat clicks during left-right transitions,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
