1988 Toyota Land Cruiser — no crank with full dash power, then it starts later — anyone dealt with this recently?

1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62, about 234,500 miles. Twice I have had full lights and accessories but no crank. After waiting a few minutes it starts normally. Battery terminals look clean. What would you want to measure during the actual failure?

Log the conditions before you spend. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. On “no crank with full dash power, then,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Did the worksheet show tax yet? If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser and see if the fault moves. Save the big job until that test fails. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Any freeze-frame data saved? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
