1993 Mazda RX-7 — blower works on some speeds but not others

1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring, about 225,000 miles. Cabin fan works normally on certain settings and then cuts out or changes speed unpredictably on others. Before replacing the blower motor, what should be checked in the resistor/controller circuit? I am in Los Angeles.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Loaded-suspension checks on the 1993 Mazda RX-7 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. That's my plan before I call anyone.
