1999 Toyota 4Runner — dealer lowered price but added accessories back in

GarageDaily716Community StarterJul 7, 20261999 Toyota 4Runner SR5California
We agreed on a vehicle price, then the worksheet included dealer-installed products I did not ask for. The total is now higher than before. What is the cleanest way to negotiate from an out-the-door number? I am in California. Interested in real owner experience more than guesses. What would you check next?

Walked a dealership this week on the 1999 Toyota 4Runner and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 1999 Toyota 4Runner quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 1999 Toyota 4Runner in California. No need to make it theatrical. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in California before you fall in love with the 1999 Toyota 4Runner. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Asking because it changes the advice: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 1999 Toyota 4Runner price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 1999 Toyota 4Runner in California. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.
