1999 Toyota 4Runner — payload sticker changed my whole truck-shopping plan — Detroit owner

I was focused on tow rating until I added passengers, cargo and tongue weight. Payload looks like the real constraint. How much buffer do you leave in a family towing setup? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.
