2006 Mazda RX-8 — single clunk over small sharp bumps

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2006 Mazda RX-8 Sport, about 110,000 miles. There is one front-end clunk over pothole edges and driveway lips, but larger smooth bumps do not reproduce it. How would you isolate end links, strut mounts, control-arm bushings and ball joints? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2006 Mazda RX-8 in San Diego, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “8 — single clunk over small sharp,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
