2007 Toyota Camry — buying a car 1,200 miles away without seeing it

2007 Toyota Camry LE, about 143,500 miles. A hard-to-find spec is several states away. Dealer has provided video and history, but I have not seen it in person. What is the best remote-buy checklist before sending money?

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2007 Toyota Camry numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buying a car 1,200 miles away without,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2007 Toyota Camry in Washington DC with 143,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2007 Toyota Camry and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2007 Toyota Camry and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Doing the boring step first on purpose.
