2013 Toyota Prius — ceramic coating is glossy but paint still got light swirls

NoMarkupFan817Community StarterDec 27, 20252013 Toyota Prius ThreeTexas
2013 Toyota Prius Three, about 121,500 miles. The coating beads well, but I still accumulated light marring. I assume wash/dry technique is the real issue. Which contact step causes the most avoidable damage?

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Capture voltage while the 2013 Toyota Prius is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2013 Toyota Prius is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2013 Toyota Prius if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Agree — and I'd add this: Move a coil or plug on the 2013 Toyota Prius if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. On “ceramic coating is glossy but paint still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Log the conditions before you spend. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2013 Toyota Prius is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “ceramic coating is glossy but paint still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
