2019 Lexus GS — two nearly identical cars are priced $4k apart

FlatSixMilesCommunity StarterFeb 13, 20262019 Lexus GS 350Central Jersey
2019 Lexus GS 350, about 34,500 miles. Same year, trim and similar mileage, but two listings are thousands apart. One is CPO and one is not. How would you quantify condition, warranty, history and dealer reputation?

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2019 Lexus GS numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Agree — and I'd add this: Ask for out-the-door on the 2019 Lexus GS with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2019 Lexus GS in Central Jersey with 34,500 miles. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2019 Lexus GS notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2019 Lexus GS with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Central Jersey, insurance quotes flipped a 2019 Lexus GS comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Quick update: a second 2019 Lexus GS quote made the first offer look ordinary. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2019 Lexus GS with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2019 Lexus GS, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2019 Lexus GS price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2019 Lexus GS so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2019 Lexus GS in Central Jersey with 34,500 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Sleeping on the number either way.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2019 Lexus GS, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2019 Lexus GS (34,500 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Sleeping on the number either way.
