2019 Mazda Mazda3 — buyer wants to pay with cashier check on a weekend

ColdStartWeekend566Community StarterApr 13, 20262019 Mazda Mazda3 PreferredCentral Jersey
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2019 Mazda Mazda3 Preferred, about 95,000 miles. A buyer wants to meet Saturday when my bank is closed and use a cashier check. I am not accusing them of anything; I just want a payment method I can actually verify before signing over the car. I am in Central Jersey.

Title status is the whole conversation. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2019 Mazda Mazda3, not a parking lot at night. I'd do that before spending real money. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Title status is the whole conversation. Independent PPI on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. I'd do that before spending real money. On “buyer wants to pay with cashier check,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Central Jersey changed the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 comparison more than the sale price did. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2019 Mazda Mazda3 in Central Jersey with 95,000 miles. Do that first. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Independent PPI on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. That's the whole play. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2019 Mazda Mazda3. Then you'll know the next fork. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
