2019 Mazda Mazda3 — reliable cheap first car or newer car with warranty?

2019 Mazda Mazda3 Preferred, about 108,500 miles. I am trying to balance purchase price against downtime and surprise repairs. Would you put the same budget into an older proven car with cash left over, or a newer car with warranty coverage? I am in San Diego. If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2019 Mazda Mazda3 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2019 Mazda Mazda3 in San Diego with 108,500 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Agree — and I'd add this: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2019 Mazda Mazda3 numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “reliable cheap first car or newer car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in San Diego before you fall in love with the 2019 Mazda Mazda3. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
