2019 Ram 2500 — buyer wants to pay with cashier check on a weekend

WrenchCamperCommunity StarterMay 21, 20262019 Ram 2500 CumminsCharlotte
A buyer wants to meet Saturday when my bank is closed and use a cashier check. I am not accusing them of anything; I just want a payment method I can actually verify before signing over the car. I am in Charlotte.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. If the 2019 Ram 2500 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2019 Ram 2500. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Quick update: a second 2019 Ram 2500 quote made the first offer look ordinary. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Charlotte changed the 2019 Ram 2500 comparison more than the sale price did. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 2019 Ram 2500 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. That's where I'd start. On “buyer wants to pay with cashier check,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 2019 Ram 2500 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Did the worksheet show tax yet? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
