2020 Toyota Tundra SR5, about 82,500 miles. I am financing most of the purchase and depreciation could be steep early on.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2020 Toyota Tundra numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “when does gap actually make sense,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2020 Toyota Tundra in Queens with 82,500 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2020 Toyota Tundra price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2020 Toyota Tundra so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Not convinced that's the whole story. In Queens, insurance quotes flipped a 2020 Toyota Tundra comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2020 Toyota Tundra price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2020 Toyota Tundra numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 Toyota Tundra and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2020 Toyota Tundra with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. This is from a 2020 Toyota Tundra in Queens with 82,500 miles. That's the whole play. Sleeping on the number either way.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2020 Toyota Tundra so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “when does gap actually make sense,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

A shop burned me once by skipping that step. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Queens changed the 2020 Toyota Tundra comparison more than the sale price did. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Quick update: a second 2020 Toyota Tundra quote made the first offer look ordinary. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I asked about when does gap actually make sense again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2020 Toyota Tundra, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2020 Toyota Tundra numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “when does gap actually make sense,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I screenshotted the quote for later.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 Toyota Tundra and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2020 Toyota Tundra in Queens with 82,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Agree — and I'd add this: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2020 Toyota Tundra numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Do that first. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2020 Toyota Tundra and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

I'd push back a little: Two 2020 Toyota Tundra quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in Queens before you fall in love with the 2020 Toyota Tundra. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2020 Toyota Tundra with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. Was this after sitting overnight? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2020 Toyota Tundra and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
