2021 Lexus ES — ticking noise follows RPM but fades when warm

CityWeekend789Community StarterJan 6, 20262021 Lexus ES 350California
There is a light ticking sound that follows engine speed for the first few minutes and then becomes hard to hear. Oil level is correct. How would you separate normal injector noise from valvetrain noise? Mostly looking for the right next step.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2021 Lexus ES does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in California. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2021 Lexus ES, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Lexus ES, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Any freeze-frame data saved? Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Lexus ES catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2021 Lexus ES, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “ticking noise follows rpm but fades when,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.
