2021 Mazda CX-5 — buyer sends a vehicle-history website I have never heard of

CamberTraveler327Community StarterFeb 10, 20262021 Mazda CX-5 TurboNorth Jersey
2021 Mazda CX-5 Turbo, about 41,500 miles. Someone interested in my car insists I buy a report from a specific unfamiliar website before they will meet. Is this a common scam pattern and what information should I avoid entering? I am in North Jersey. Interested in real owner experience more than guesses. I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in North Jersey before you fall in love with the 2021 Mazda CX-5. If they balk, that's your answer. On “5 — buyer sends a vehicle-history website,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Mazda CX-5 in North Jersey with 41,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2021 Mazda CX-5 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

I'd push back a little: In North Jersey, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Mazda CX-5 comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2021 Mazda CX-5 (41,500 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Mazda CX-5 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. If I were shopping this, two 2021 Mazda CX-5 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Doing the boring step first on purpose.
