2022 Honda Accord — catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally

DailyMilesCommunity StarterJan 11, 20262022 Honda Accord 2.0T SportSalt Lake City
A catalyst efficiency code came back after clearing once. The car drives normally and there are no misfire codes. Before condemning the catalytic converter, what sensor/data checks are worth doing?

Ask what changed right before it started. Capture voltage while the 2022 Honda Accord is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Honda Accord, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Salt Lake City. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2022 Honda Accord does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Two 2022 Honda Accords can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Salt Lake City. Do that first. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Honda Accord is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Log the conditions before you spend. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Honda Accord is losing coolant with no puddle. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “catalyst efficiency code but car drives normally,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Salt Lake City. That's the whole play. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

If it were in my driveway, move a coil or plug on the 2022 Honda Accord if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. That's the whole play. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.
