2022 Honda Accord — is this actually a good used-car deal?

HighwayLearnerCommunity StarterMay 4, 20262022 Honda Accord 2.0T SportCleveland
2022 Honda Accord 2.0T Sport, about 40,500 miles. The online price looks competitive, but I am trying to judge the entire deal rather than the headline number. What should I compare besides mileage, history, condition and a PPI before deciding what it is worth? I am in Cleveland.

Quick update: a second 2022 Honda Accord quote made the first offer look ordinary. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd push back a little: In Cleveland, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Honda Accord comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2022 Honda Accord with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Sleeping on the number either way.

Agree — and I'd add this: Ask for out-the-door on the 2022 Honda Accord with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Cleveland with 40,500 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2022 Honda Accord so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “is this actually a good used-car deal,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Honda Accord price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Asking because it changes the advice: If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Honda Accord price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2022 Honda Accord numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Sleeping on the number either way.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2022 Honda Accord so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “is this actually a good used-car deal,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Asking because it changes the advice: In Cleveland, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Honda Accord comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. When does it actually happen? Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Did the worksheet show tax yet? A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Cleveland, insurance quotes flipped a 2022 Honda Accord comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2022 Honda Accord in Cleveland with 40,500 miles. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Cleveland before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. If they balk, that's your answer. On “is this actually a good used-car deal,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Honda Accord price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2022 Honda Accord, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in Cleveland before you fall in love with the 2022 Honda Accord. Do that before you talk monthly again. Do that first. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.
