2022 Lexus GX — single clunk over small sharp bumps

SleeperOwner672Community StarterMay 10, 20262022 Lexus GX 460New Jersey
2022 Lexus GX 460, about 46,000 miles. There is one front-end clunk over pothole edges and driveway lips, but larger smooth bumps do not reproduce it. How would you isolate end links, strut mounts, control-arm bushings and ball joints? Interested in real owner experience more than guesses.

I went back under the 2022 Lexus GX and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Agree — and I'd add this: Two 2022 Lexus GXs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Fair point. Counterpoint: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2022 Lexus GX, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. No need to make it theatrical. Checking again after work.

It did single clunk over small sharp bumps twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2022 Lexus GX if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. No need to make it theatrical. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2022 Lexus GX and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. Only after sitting overnight so far.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2022 Lexus GX and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. No need to make it theatrical. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2022 Lexus GX catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “single clunk over small sharp bumps,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2022 Lexus GX is losing coolant with no puddle. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Two 2022 Lexus GXs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Checking again after work.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2022 Lexus GX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. On “single clunk over small sharp bumps,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2022 Lexus GX didn't change. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Did the worksheet show tax yet? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
