2022 Toyota RAV4 — dealer lowered price but added accessories back in

ColdStartCollector239Community StarterMar 6, 20262022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSESan Diego
2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE, about 21,000 miles. We agreed on a vehicle price, then the worksheet included dealer-installed products I did not ask for. The total is now higher than before. What is the cleanest way to negotiate from an out-the-door number? I am in San Diego. What would you check next?

If I were shopping this, two 2022 Toyota RAV4 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2022 Toyota RAV4 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Quick update: a second 2022 Toyota RAV4 quote made the first offer look ordinary. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2022 Toyota RAV4 in San Diego with 21,000 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Call your insurer in San Diego before you fall in love with the 2022 Toyota RAV4. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Was this after sitting overnight? I screenshotted the quote for later.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2022 Toyota RAV4 price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Not wiring anything in the meantime.
