2023 Toyota 4Runner — rough idle disappears just above idle speed

NoMarkupFan817Community StarterJul 21, 20262023 Toyota 4Runner TRD ProSacramento
2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, about 35,000 miles. Idle has a slight shake once fully warm, but 100–200 RPM above idle it smooths out. No major loss of power. Would you look at mounts, vacuum leaks, ignition or fueling first? I am in Sacramento.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Toyota 4Runner does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2023 Toyota 4Runner in Sacramento with 35,000 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Log the conditions before you spend. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Toyota 4Runner does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. On “rough idle disappears just above idle speed,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Two 2023 Toyota 4Runners can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2023 Toyota 4Runner in Sacramento with 35,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Toyota 4Runner is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. Checking again after work.

Ask what changed right before it started. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Toyota 4Runner is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. Not driving it hard until I know more.
