2023 Toyota 4Runner — second battery versus portable power station

CanyonScout698Community StarterDec 17, 20252023 Toyota 4Runner TRD ProSan Diego
2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, about 47,500 miles. I want reliable fridge/lights/device power for weekend trips without making the vehicle electrical system unnecessarily complicated. When does a hardwired dual-battery setup beat a portable power station? I am in San Diego.

If it were in my driveway, loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

I'd push back a little: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2023 Toyota 4Runner in San Diego with 47,500 miles. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd push back a little: Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Toyota 4Runner does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Agree — and I'd add this: Two 2023 Toyota 4Runners can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Two 2023 Toyota 4Runners can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “second battery versus portable power station,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.
