2023 Toyota 4Runner — steering oscillation after hitting a sharp bump

Certain bumps can start a violent steering oscillation that stops only after slowing down. I want a diagnostic checklist for joints, track bar, caster and wheel/tire condition rather than a stronger stabilizer first. If I figure it out I will update the thread. Mileage is about 138,000.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2023 Toyota 4Runner in Orange County, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “steering oscillation after hitting a sharp bump,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I'll update if anything new shows up.
