2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro — a/C is cold while driving, warm at stoplights

A/C gets properly cold on the highway but becomes noticeably warmer at long lights. It cools down again almost immediately once the car is moving. Could this still be a refrigerant issue or does that point more toward airflow/fans? I'm in Texas. Any data points from owners would help.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Two 2023 Toyota 4Runners can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Two 2023 Toyota 4Runners can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Toyota 4Runner if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “a/c is cold while driving, warm at,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Toyota 4Runner in Texas. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Not driving it hard until I know more.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Toyota 4Runner does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. That's the whole play. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.
