2024 Ram 1500 — dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of OTD

QuietFanCommunity StarterApr 8, 20262024 Ram 1500 LimitedNorthern Virginia
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2024 Ram 1500 Limited, about 15,500 miles. Every time I ask for sale price and fees, the conversation goes back to monthly payment. I am bringing my own financing. Is there any reason not to insist on a full buyer order before going in?

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ram 1500 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Any freeze-frame data saved? Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Ram 1500, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Ram 1500 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. That's the sequence I'd use. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2024 Ram 1500 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ram 1500 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Ram 1500 in Northern Virginia with 15,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. That's my plan before I call anyone.
