2024 Ram 1500 — steering oscillation after hitting a sharp bump

RustBeltGuy896Community StarterMay 25, 20262024 Ram 1500 LimitedDenver
2024 Ram 1500 Limited, about 34,000 miles. Certain bumps can start a violent steering oscillation that stops only after slowing down. I want a diagnostic checklist for joints, track bar, caster and wheel/tire condition rather than a stronger stabilizer first. I am in Denver.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Capture voltage while the 2024 Ram 1500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Stop there until you know. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Ram 1500 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Ask what changed right before it started. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Ram 1500 is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Ram 1500 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2024 Ram 1500 in Denver with 34,000 miles. That's the whole play. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Ram 1500 does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'll poke at it this weekend.

Log the conditions before you spend. Capture voltage while the 2024 Ram 1500 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “steering oscillation after hitting a sharp bump,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Ram 1500, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “steering oscillation after hitting a sharp bump,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
