2024 Toyota Tacoma — factory order status has not moved in weeks — New Jersey owner

WeekendEnthusiast189Community StarterAug 3, 20262024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-RoadNew Jersey
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, about 4,500 miles. Dealer gave me an order/reference number but the status has been unchanged for weeks. For people who have ordered cars, what updates are meaningful versus normal waiting between milestones?

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in New Jersey before you fall in love with the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. If they balk, that's your answer. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Toyota Tacoma numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. This is from a 2024 Toyota Tacoma in New Jersey with 4,500 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2024 Toyota Tacoma in New Jersey with 4,500 miles. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2024 Toyota Tacoma quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Any freeze-frame data saved? Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Was this after sitting overnight? If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

If I were shopping this, in New Jersey, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Toyota Tacoma comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. I'll update if anything new shows up.

If they balk, that's your answer. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2024 Toyota Tacoma quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in New Jersey before you fall in love with the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. Sleeping on the number either way.

Quick add on that: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Toyota Tacoma numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. That's my plan before I call anyone.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Any freeze-frame data saved? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. In New Jersey, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Toyota Tacoma comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Was this after sitting overnight? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. When does it actually happen? I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2024 Toyota Tacoma notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “factory order status has not moved in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in New Jersey changed the 2024 Toyota Tacoma comparison more than the sale price did. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
