2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road — need advice: DPF regens seem more frequent lately

Truck is doing more short trips lately and I feel like active regens are happening much more often. No codes. Is there a good way to confirm soot load/regeneration frequency with a scan tool before assuming somethign is wrong? I'm in Salt Lake City. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. In Salt Lake City, dedicated winters on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. I'd do that before spending real money. On “road — need advice: dpf regens seem,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If Salt Lake City only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma can be the saner daily. That's where I'd start. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.
