2025 Toyota Camry — how much room below MSRP when inventory is normal? — second opinion before I spend money

TrackBuilderCommunity StarterDec 30, 20252025 Toyota Camry XSECleveland
2025 Toyota Camry XSE, about 19,000 miles. I am shopping a new car with several similar units sitting nearby. Dealer started at MSRP plus fees. What is the best way to use competing written quotes without turning the process into endless back-and-forth?

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Toyota Camry numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2025 Toyota Camry, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2025 Toyota Camry in Cleveland with 19,000 miles. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2025 Toyota Camry and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Ask for out-the-door on the 2025 Toyota Camry with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2025 Toyota Camry is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Yes, with one caveat: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Toyota Camry numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “how much room below msrp when inventory,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Cleveland changed the 2025 Toyota Camry comparison more than the sale price did. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2025 Toyota Camry, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2025 Toyota Camry quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Toyota Camry so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “how much room below msrp when inventory,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Toyota Camry so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “how much room below msrp when inventory,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Toyota Camry numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If I were shopping this, in Cleveland, insurance quotes flipped a 2025 Toyota Camry comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

If I were shopping this, two 2025 Toyota Camry quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.
