Anyone else: Buy a welder or bigger air compressor first?

TurboDriverCommunity StarterJun 11, 20262025 Toyota Camry XSEDallas–Fort Worth
2025 Toyota Camry XSE, about 62,000 miles. I do mostly home automotive work and can only justify one major shop purchase this year. Existing small compressor handles tires but not sustained air tools. Welder would unlock fabrication. Which one changed your garage more? Any data points from owners would help.

Quick update: a second 2025 Toyota Camry quote made the first offer look ordinary. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I asked about buy a welder or bigger air compressor again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. Two 2025 Toyota Camry quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. When does it actually happen? Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Toyota Camry numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Sleeping on the number either way.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2025 Toyota Camry price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in Dallas–Fort Worth before you fall in love with the 2025 Toyota Camry. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buy a welder or bigger air compressor,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2025 Toyota Camry in Dallas–Fort Worth with 62,000 miles. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2025 Toyota Camry notes. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Toyota Camry numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2025 Toyota Camry quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Toyota Camry so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.
