Buy a welder or bigger air compressor first?

PixelMom42Community StarterOct 25, 20252021 Lexus ES 350Orange County
2021 Lexus ES 350, about 96,000 miles. I do mostly home automotive work and can only justify one major shop purchase this year. Existing small compressor handles tires but not sustained air tools. Welder would unlock fabrication. Which one changed your garage more? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Lexus ES with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Lexus ES is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Lexus ES and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Asking because it changes the advice: If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Lexus ES, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Orange County with 96,000 miles. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Lexus ES, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Orange County with 96,000 miles. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2021 Lexus ES quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Lexus ES so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “buy a welder or bigger air compressor,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Lexus ES so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “buy a welder or bigger air compressor,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Lexus ES in Orange County with 96,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. In Orange County, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Lexus ES comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Lexus ES is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. Two 2021 Lexus ES quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest.
