Need advice: No crank, lights work, then it suddenly starts

TireSeller35Community StarterJun 4, 20262024 Acura MDX Type SAustin
Twice this month I turned the key/button and got lights but no crank. After trying again a few minutes later it started normally. Battery connections look clean. Starter relay, brake switch, starter itself, or something else? If I fix it I'll come back and update the thread.

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Acura MDX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “no crank, lights work, then it suddenly,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Acura MDX catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Any freeze-frame data saved? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

If it were in my driveway, capture voltage while the 2024 Acura MDX is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
