Question: Another software-related recall — are cars getting too centralized?

2024 Ram 1500 Limited, about 4,800 miles. This newest recall looks like another case where a software/electronics fault affects a basic driving function. I like modern features, but it does make me wonder whether too many systems now depend on one screen/module. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Ram 1500 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Ram 1500 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “another software-related recall — are cars getting,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Ram 1500 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2024 Ram 1500 in Ohio with 4,800 miles. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Sleeping on the number either way.

Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd push back a little: If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Ram 1500, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Fair point. Counterpoint: In Ohio, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Ram 1500 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.
