Safety tips
A lease transfer is a real financial contract. Protect yourself.
Before you pay anything
- Confirm transfer eligibility directly with the leasing company.
- Get every term in writing — never rely only on the seller's statements.
- Confirm whether the original lessee remains liable after the transfer.
- Do not send large payments before you have the transfer paperwork.
Inspect the vehicle
- Inspect the car in person or hire a professional inspection.
- Verify the current mileage against the listing and remaining allowance.
- Check for excess wear that could trigger end-of-lease charges.
Understand the fees
- Transfer fee and who pays it.
- Disposition fee at lease end.
- Excess wear-and-tear charges.
- Over-mileage fees per mile.
- Lease-end buyout price, if you might keep the car.
Protect your account
- Keep conversations in-app until you trust the other party.
- Never share passwords or one-time codes.
- Report suspicious listings or messages — we review every report.
LookyLeasy does not transfer the lease directly. Buyers and sellers must verify transfer eligibility, fees, credit approval, and liability rules with the leasing company.
