1970 Datsun 240Z — dealer cannot reproduce an intermittent warning — Long Island owner question

1970 Datsun 240Z, about 104,500 miles. I have brought the car in twice for the same intermittent warning and both visits ended with could-not-reproduce. I have video and timestamps. What is the best way to build a useful paper trail?

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 1970 Datsun 240Z in Long Island, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “dealer cannot reproduce an intermittent warning —,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 1970 Datsun 240Z owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. Then you'll know the next fork. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1970 Datsun 240Z before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Not convinced that's the whole story. If it still isn't clear on the 1970 Datsun 240Z, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. This is from a 1970 Datsun 240Z in Long Island with 104,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
