1972 Chevrolet C10 — going one inch smaller for winter wheels

ShiftShopper690Community StarterSep 4, 20261972 Chevrolet C10Westchester
I want smaller winter wheels for more sidewall. Overall tire diameter can stay close, but I am worried about caliper and spoke clearance. What measurements should be checked before ordering?

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 1972 Chevrolet C10. Then you'll know the next fork. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Fair point. Counterpoint: In Westchester, dedicated winters on the 1972 Chevrolet C10 paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. That's where I'd start. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
