1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring — anyone else: Coolant is old by time but low mileage

PistonSeller89Community StarterOct 30, 20251993 Mazda RX-7 TouringUpstate New York
Car only has 32k miles but the coolant is several years old. Would you change it based on age alone? I'm trying to prioritize maintenance that matters rather than replacing everything early. Trying to diagnose before I book a shop.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 1993 Mazda RX-7 notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 1993 Mazda RX-7 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Quick update: a second 1993 Mazda RX-7 quote made the first offer look ordinary. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 1993 Mazda RX-7 numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 1993 Mazda RX-7 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Not convinced that's the whole story. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 1993 Mazda RX-7 price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 1993 Mazda RX-7 in Upstate New York. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 1993 Mazda RX-7 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Ask for out-the-door on the 1993 Mazda RX-7 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Upstate New York changed the 1993 Mazda RX-7 comparison more than the sale price did. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 1993 Mazda RX-7 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “7 touring — anyone else: coolant is,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 1993 Mazda RX-7 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Upstate New York, insurance quotes flipped a 1993 Mazda RX-7 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 1993 Mazda RX-7 in Upstate New York. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Upstate New York before you fall in love with the 1993 Mazda RX-7. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “7 touring — anyone else: coolant is,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 1993 Mazda RX-7, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 1993 Mazda RX-7 numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 1993 Mazda RX-7. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.
