2004 Toyota Land Cruiser — costs that mattered more than fuel economy

2004 Toyota Land Cruiser, about 181,000 miles. After owning the car for a while, tires, insurance and service pricing mattered more than the MPG difference I obsessed over before buying. What ownership costs surprised you most?

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser in Baltimore with 181,000 miles. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
