2007 Toyota Camry — new tires are much louder than the old set

Same size and pressure, but the new tires create noticeably more highway hum. Is this usually tread pattern/compound, or should I verify balance and alignment before blaming the tire model?

If it were mine, I would verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2007 Toyota Camry before committing to a big repair.

One thing that mattered for me: in Pennsylvania, I care more about the thing I will notice every day than the spec-sheet extra.
