2008 Honda Accord — check-engine light turned itself off — still scan it? — buyer question from Baltimore

The light was on for two days and then disappeared before I could schedule service. Car feels normal. Is there still likely to be useful stored or pending data if I scan it now?

If it were in my driveway, write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2008 Honda Accord does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2008 Honda Accord in Baltimore. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Checking again after work.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Two 2008 Honda Accords can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not driving it hard until I know more.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2008 Honda Accord and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2008 Honda Accord in Baltimore. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2008 Honda Accord, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “check-engine light turned itself off — still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2008 Honda Accord in Baltimore.
