2012 Honda Pilot — dealer cannot reproduce an intermittent warning

2012 Honda Pilot EX-L, about 161,000 miles. I have brought the car in twice for the same intermittent warning and both visits ended with could-not-reproduce. I have video and timestamps. What is the best way to build a useful paper trail?

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2012 Honda Pilot in Texas, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “dealer cannot reproduce an intermittent warning,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2012 Honda Pilot before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. This is from a 2012 Honda Pilot in Texas with 161,000 miles. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Following up on dealer cannot reproduce an intermittent warning: still happening, but I have better notes now. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2012 Honda Pilot before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2012 Honda Pilot in Texas with 161,000 miles. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2012 Honda Pilot, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. Then you'll know the next fork. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
