2021 Honda CR-V — surface rust underneath a winter daily — trying to narrow this down

There is early surface rust on brackets, fasteners and seams underneath, but nothing structural. For a salt-belt car, what treatment slows it down without creating a hard coating that traps moisture? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2021 Honda CR-V, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
