2017 Hyundai Elantra — dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of OTD

SleeperEnthusiastCommunity StarterFeb 25, 20262017 Hyundai Elantra SEColumbus
2017 Hyundai Elantra SE, about 58,000 miles. Every time I ask for sale price and fees, the conversation goes back to monthly payment. I am bringing my own financing. Is there any reason not to insist on a full buyer order before going in?

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2017 Hyundai Elantra in Columbus with 58,000 miles. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2017 Hyundai Elantra and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Just my two cents from doing this recently. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “dealer keeps discussing monthly payment instead of,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If one piece looks too good on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.
