2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee — car died once at a light and restarted immediately

CanyonSellerCommunity StarterApr 12, 20262017 Jeep Grand Cherokee LimitedAtlanta
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, about 109,500 miles. The engine shut off at a stop once, restarted right away, and has been normal since. No warning stayed on. What data or checks would you prioritize before trusting it on a long trip?

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Move a coil or plug on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Atlanta with 109,500 miles. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “car died once at a light and,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Atlanta with 109,500 miles. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Yes, with one caveat: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “car died once at a light and,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Capture voltage while the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'd rather be boring and correct. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

OP update: scanned the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.
