2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee — new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, about 142,000 miles. Pads and rotors were replaced recently and stopping performance is good, but there is low-speed squeal. Hardware was cleaned and lubricated. How long would you give bedding before inspecting again? I am in Orange County.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Ask what changed right before it started. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Two 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokees can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

OP update: scanned the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “new pads squeal at parking-lot speeds,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Ask what changed right before it started. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is losing coolant with no puddle. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

This is from a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Orange County with 142,000 miles. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Capture voltage while the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
