2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee — should I negotiate the trade and purchase separately?

DetailScout4Community StarterFeb 15, 20262017 Jeep Grand Cherokee LimitedPortland
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, about 70,500 miles. I have a trade with some equity and I am buying another car. Dealer wants to talk only in payment numbers. Would you settle sale price first, then trade value, then financing so each piece stays visible? Interested in real owner experience more than guesses.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Ask for out-the-door on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

If I were shopping this, in Portland, insurance quotes flipped a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. I'll update if anything new shows up.
