2018 BMW 340i — oil level drops between services with no puddle

2018 BMW 340i xDrive, about 31,000 miles. I started measuring the oil level every few hundred miles and it is definitely falling between changes. There is no obvious puddle and I do not notice smoke. How would you document and diagnose this instead of guessing? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Ask what changed right before it started. Two 2018 BMW 340is can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “oil level drops between services with no,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
