2018 Chevrolet Tahoe — buyer wants to pay with cashier check on a weekend

EVBuyer929Community StarterJan 1, 20262018 Chevrolet Tahoe LTDallas
2018 Chevrolet Tahoe LT, about 59,000 miles. A buyer wants to meet Saturday when my bank is closed and use a cashier check. I am not accusing them of anything; I just want a payment method I can actually verify before signing over the car. Mostly looking for the right next step.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe in Dallas with 59,000 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, not a parking lot at night. I'd do that before spending real money. On “buyer wants to pay with cashier check,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

On “buyer wants to pay with cashier check,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Same neighborhood, different next step: If the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Title status is the whole conversation. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Make the next action something you can finish this week. Not wiring anything in the meantime.
