2018 Chevrolet Tahoe — cheap project has enough margin to fix and resell?

WrenchRoadie234Community StarterMar 16, 20262018 Chevrolet Tahoe LTCentral Jersey
2018 Chevrolet Tahoe LT, about 74,000 miles. I found a running car with cosmetic damage and deferred maintenance at a low price. Before treating it as a flip, how do you budget hidden repairs, title/registration, taxes, transport and selling time? I am in Central Jersey.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, not a parking lot at night. Then you'll know the next fork. On “cheap project has enough margin to fix,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. That's where I'd start. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. If the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. I'd do that before spending real money. Was this after sitting overnight? Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Title status is the whole conversation. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, not a parking lot at night. Then you'll know the next fork. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Title status is the whole conversation. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe in Central Jersey with 74,000 miles. Stop there until you know. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.
